Not Black, Just Inky Colors

Not Black, Just Inky Colors

If you want a moody space with character but you don’t want it too black, there are several alternatives that you can use such as navy, chocolate or charcoal and many more.

Here are some of the inky colors and the good combination that go well with them. Black can show some attitude, but these inky colors suggested below are softer than black. They also create many effects that can really fit your mood. Read on.

This Color can give your space some nautical twist. If you partner it with white, the white will look even more fresh and bright. With such a combination, you may not need other colors. This combination can be both for men and women. Therefore, if you have guestrooms, you might want to consider it.

Even if you want your room painted with navy, do not be afraid as it will not look as dark as black. Instead, the look is more of a sophisticated studio rather than a dark and depressing mood when you use black.

A deep chocolate brown can look classic. The best pair for it is espresso wood which creates a warmer feel in the room. Also, if there’s some orange in the room, the espresso wood can help tone down its wild shades.

If you want an elegant look, go for a combination of chocolate, velvet and some warm gray contrast. This combination will certainly make your room have a boutique feeling. Then add this beautiful wall art, Baroque Poppies by Ives McColl, which can be found at Those elegant looking flowers in the picture will certainly make you love your space even more.

Emerald and Forest

Some nice off-black shades would be deep forest and emerald green. It can both look modern and traditional depending on the look that you want to achieve.

In bathrooms, vivid emerald can be the most wonderful option. In your shower room, it will feel cool and can create a moody space. Just make sure you maintain the clean and fresh effect of the room.

Cool Gray

Cool gray be used in any room. The best combination you can have with it is aqua or lavender. Just imagine the freshness and coolness that it can create. Just like the effect that navy blue can create, only that cool gray has lesser undertones and with a cleaner look.

Color Combinations You Never Thought of Using in Your Bedroom

Color Combinations You Never Thought of Using in Your Bedroom

There are really a lot of colors that we think just do not go together or would look awful when used together. Just like when you wear blue and orange, how do you think people would react? However, you cannot imagine how these color go well together in interior designs. It is just about how you combine them and how you pick the right shade and tone.

As a matter of fact, there really isn’t bad combination of colors, just badly done combinations of them. Here are some simple ideas that might impress you and might even amaze you when you try them.

Purple and Green. Yes, sounds like an awful combination, but have you tried combining them using the right shade? To prove to you how these colors go well together, paint your bedroom with purple and pair it with pear green and white accents. You would certainly be intrigued with the result.

Blue and orange. A basic blue and a basic orange may not look really nice. However, when you try painting your bedroom walls with orange which is a bit browner and have a bed that is a little paler, and use dark brown on your flooring, you will realize how clever these colors work together. Adding some metallic blue pops of color will make the room more interesting.

Another fascinating shades of blue and orange combination is using the palest blue as your walls as well as your bed. Then, use vibrant orange on your pillows, curtains and bedroom armchairs or sofa. You will be amazed by the soothing and, at the same time, fun effect that it can bring into your bedroom.

Pink and Green. Does it sound like the colors clash? I would say No because they also have different shades. Keep your flooring in dark brown and have your walls painted in apple green. Now, how do you play with pink to make it work with green? Simple. Use a range of pink shades from light to dark. Use powder-puff pink blanket on your white bed and use a more intense pink like French pink on your pillows. Add pops of vibrant blue and yellow colors. The result will make you think how colors simply harmonize.

Colors are simply like music. They can be harmonized. Just look at the image featured. It is an abstract painting called "On Reflection" by Peter Colbert (from will harmoniously fit on your room especially if the room’s scheme is purple and green or blue and orange.

As mentioned above, there really isn’t bad combination of colors. So, do not be afraid to mix and match and you might just discover unusual color combinations that would look fantastic on your bedroom.

A lot of parents and soon-to-be parents enjoy planning and decorating their nursery rooms for their little ones. However, there are some parents who just do not know where and how to start. Whatever kind of room you have, it is always possible to turn it into a nursery room.

Most nursery rooms have wonderful themes with friendly and colorful pictures. Anything you put in the room could affect the baby’s development because in his young age, he will already start learning from everything he feels, sees and hears.
If you are one of the parents who are having trouble deciding on a theme or style of your nursery room, you may enjoy the simple ideas provided below:

Before decorating your baby’s room, always think about the most important things first. Whatever style you have in mind, the room must always have a crib and a closet where all your baby’s needs can be placed.

Getting the right paint. Color is an important factor in decorating. It is recommended that you use light pastel colors in nursery rooms just like soft pink or sky blue as these are easy on the eyes and it creates a soothing feeling. If you want a more creative touch on the walls, you may have wallpapers. There are endless wallpaper designs, so you can just choose the one that fits your nursery room’s theme.

Your baby will certainly grow. In a few months, your baby will start to crawl. Therefore, it is better to have your nursery prepared already. Place some area rugs with rug grip so it will stick on the floor. Doing so will give your baby a place to play and crawl.

A nursery room is not complete if there are no toys. However, toys will also mean clutter. You may avoid clutter by having storages in the room where you can keep the toys properly. Having a cluttered nursery is not good for the baby’s environment. It can even be risky because it can cause accidents like slipping on the floor.

Of course, one of the most important things to remember is to keep the room well-lighted. Have the windows opened during the day as natural light is always better and have lights to use during the night.

The fun part of decorating the room is actually when you are putting the decorations. Do not forget to design the walls with paintings suitable for children. Display stuffed toys which can entertain your baby’s eyes. You may also have colorful storages and coordinate them with the curtains and rugs to keep the scheme balanced.

Nursery rooms have to be clean and organized. It should be safe especially for the baby. Make sure that the things are appropriate and child-friendly. Do not over decorate or the room will only look crowded and noisy and that will make the baby feel much less comfortable.
